Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the Christopher Columbus High School Campus Home Page. It is our hope that the information provided will help you to learn about the outstanding programs, activities, events and staff that enable students to "achieve excellence through exploration."

With a student body of over 1,600, Columbus High School proudly represents 66 nations. This diverse population and the desire of our students and faculty to come together as a complete school community are part of what makes Christopher Columbus great.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality education possible. Students are encouraged to be independent and self-directed. They may expect to be treated fairly and provided a safe environment in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. They will be challenged to reach their greatest potential so that they will be productive, creative, and responsible members of society in today's ever-changing world.

Parents are welcome to be co-educators with us. We encourage a firm avenue of communication between school and home. We invite parents and guardians to become involved in their child's education by joining our Parent/Teacher Association or volunteering to help with a school trip or activity. Most important, though, we rely on the support and involvement at home--making certain that homework is completed, encouraging good attendance and punctuality.

Academic standards and expectations are high at Christopher Columbus High School. These are facilitated by an experienced and well-trained faculty. The curriculum is both challenging and accommodating to students of all backgrounds. The core curriculum consists of Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and Foreign Language. In addition to a strong traditional academic program, we also offer courses in computer technology and the fine arts. We have many extra-curricula activities, and our sports teams have consistently achieved division championship status.

We believe that as a result of what our school offers--and from our combined commitment--students will excel in learning, become better citizens, and will help build stronger communities.

Please click on our Mission/Vision link to see a more indepth view of what our school philosophy is.

We are pleased to have you as part of the Columbus community and wish both students and parents alike a very successful school year.
